Viewed from the raised footpath, the summit of
Perrymount Road merges into the Broadway. The Broadway cinema
is the large white 1930s-style building on the right of the photograph;
it opened in 1932, and stood here for 20 years. It was then used
by J W Upton Sons, as a furniture store, and
then it was demolished in 1987. The site is now an office
complex for Lloyds Bank.

At this road junction is the Cuckfield branch
of J W Upton (the Haywards Heath furniture store), next to Lloyds
Bank (right). The attractive clock still survives, which is just
as well, as the building is called Clock House. Broad Street leads off into
the distance, and is the main route to Haywards Heath.
